This former municipally owned transport undertaking served some small towns near to Middlesbrough in the north-east of England. Railless was an early name for electric trolleybuses. The system survived from 1919 to 1971. This Sunbeam F4A dates from 1961 although its electrical gear comes from an earlier vehicle. It has a Burlingham body and originally was built for the Reading Borough Council fleet where it was no. 186. It then went to Tees-side for a few years before that system closed. Although originally the TRTB vehicles were painted dark green, by the time they acquired this vehicle the livery was a rather unusual shade of a light turquoise.

Since 1971 this trolleybus has stayed at various museums but now it is at the Black Country Living Museum at Dudley where it is undergoing restoration. Here it is pictured standing outside the Museum's Trolleybus Depot. It is still carrying the posters commemorating the TRTB trolleybus service. Unusually its trolley poles are painted red.
