The brick tower dates from c.1630 and contains a set of bells unusually rung as a carillon (i.e. played by a keyboard, not ropes).
St Luke's church, Charlton

St Luke's is an Anglican parish church in the heart of Charlton, just across the road from Charlton House Link

The church stands on the edge of a plateau overlooking the Thames valley, and the tower used to be used as a navigational aid by sailors on the Thames. The parish still has the rare right to fly the Royal Ensign.

The tower and nave are mostly 17th century but incorporating parts of the walls of an earlier church. The present chancel is later. It is notable for its many monuments including several to the Maryon Wilson family (patrons of the church) and Spencer Perceval, former Prime Minister (died 1812).

The building is grade 2* listed (list entry number 1358934).
