Canal embankment breach, 7th September 2008Although I have placed quite a lot of images of the canal in this and the neighbouring square, they were all taken nearly a fortnight after the event. Dramatic pictures from the actual dayof the collapse can be seen on Bobasonics's Flickr pages, and the slideshow here
http://www.flickr.com/photos/bobasonic/sets/72157607164898906/show/ is well worth a look. I have suggested he consider putting some of the images on geograph.
The canal below Middle Bridge is gradually refilling with pumped water from the River Stour started on 22nd September. Updated information can be seen on the canalworld forum here

There were several break-ins of the stranded boats soon after they were grounded, and the chap on Odyssey did let me take pictures but didn't really want any more publicity, though I informed him he was already on the web! He'll be gone soon so I'll put two images of his boat up at the end of this week.
On the subject of the canal and towpath being closed, the farmer (with the horses) north of the canal at SO 875860 can be particularly aggressive to anyone going on his land where BWB have installed their temporary road. Walkers can wriggle past the towpath barriers. Cyclists can't, and there have been several confrontations. Police are aware. Don't mess with Farmer Bob! :-(
