Locomotive Inn, Exeter
Locomotive Inn, Exeter
This pub is on New North Road. The building has an interesting history which is detailed at LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) . In short, it was built in 1839, and the extra storey to the right was added in 1842 to become the first photographic studio in Exeter, operated by William Gill and using daguerreotypes. The "South Western Hotel" opened in 1862, later becoming the Locomotive. Exeter Central station, formerly called Queen Street station, is only 200 metres away.
