Ostrich fern in Kellie Castle walled garden (set of 2 images)

Matteuccia struthiopteris gets is common names (ostrich, fiddlehead or shuttlecock fern), from the likeness of its leaves, or groups of leaves, to those things as they emerge in the spring. These are sterile fronds. The fertile fronds are shorter and appear later in the year. It is not native, but not invasive.
