About Me
Based near Wolverhampton.
Visitors expecting competition standard photography will probably be disappointed. For this collection the geography is more important than the photography, so many images have been obtained in less than helpful light, and submitted regardless.
Most time of day details showing on image exif data are GMT (UTC) throughout the year (except where I have messed up the settings)! The exceptions are the few instances where I have used a fairly low specification mobile phone.
I am currently using a Panasonic Lumix TZ100, and a Canon EOS 80D whenever I can cope with its bulk and weight, and occasionally a Panasonic Lumix TZ60.
Earlier images made use of a Fujifilm S5600 (good), a Fujifilm S1800 (not so good), a Panasonic TZ3 (good but I broke it!), and a Panasonic TZ7 (good, but it was nicked).
If members or viewers can suggest additional information or corrections for the texts of my images (particularly regarding historical or agricultural details) do please contact me. I do request that all users of my images on their own web-pages should show the full Creative Commons Licence and my name; a link to details is on every image page.
Up to 1600 pixel images of my earlier photos can be uploaded to this site on request (except 2007 images at the Wren's Nest, which have been lost). Sometimes these can be considerably better in quality than the image showing on the photo page. Higher resolution files may be provided for commercial use by agreement. It is worth noting that prints from thousands of Geograph images (not just trains!) can be purchased commercially from an eBay seller called railway-images-uk. He is allowed to do this, and does make regular donations to Geograph. I have not seen any of his prints to make judgement on their quality. However, it should also be noted that you can download image files free from our site and make your own prints. Many of our photographers will send you some higher-res files on request at the mere
