The seaward end of Juggler's Moor, a valley bottom at Stanswood, near Fawley. The valley was tidal for nearly a mile inland, until the great storm of November 1703 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Storm_of_1703 ) which closed off the mouth of the river with a large shingle bank. The valley is crossed by a number of drainage ditches, one of which lies in the reeds on the left of the image.text/html2013-03-21T21:43:35+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/123Robin Somes50.797386 -1.333059SZ4799 : Pond, Juggler's Moor, Stanswood

A small pond at the seaward end of Juggler's Moor. It is mostly fed by the adjacent stream, but is weakly saline, suggesting percolation of salt water through the shingle.text/html2013-03-21T21:40:16+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/123Robin Somes50.797386 -1.333059SZ4799 : Pond, Juggler's Moor, Stanswood

A bird hide built on stilts on the very edge of the saltmarshes on Southampton Water. Its predecessor was built by the CEGB in the early 1960s, for local birdwatchers, when Fawley power station was constructed. The original was burned down in 1991, and this replacement was built by a local resident and keen birdwatcher. Unfortunately it was destroyed in a storm in the winter of 2012/13.text/html2008-09-28T17:51:15+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/123Robin Somes50.827636 -1.323400SU4703 : Bird hide, saltmarshes near Ashlett Creek
