        <link>https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7933135</link>
<description>Taken on a windy day from Birkside Fell, where a pair of Red Kites were slope soaring in the valley. This kite was tagged with pink (left) and green (right) wing tags numbered Y8.

The pink tag confirms that the bird is from North East England and the green tag confirms the year of fledging, which in this case is either 2006, 2015 or 2024. I assume the latter two are more likely.

Further information on Red Kites and tagging in the North East can be found here: https://friendsofredkites.org.uk/wing-tagging-and-ringing</description>

        <title>NU0702 : Autumn Colours at Cragside, Northumberland</title>
        <link>https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7924194</link>
<description>Cragside was the country house and estate of industrialist Lord William Armstrong and Lady Margaret Armstrong. It was the first house in the world to be lit using hydroelectric power.

The iron footbridge over Debdon Burn (mid-ground) was manufactured in the 1870s at Lord Armstrong's Elswick Works. The footbridge is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.

The estate is now cared for by the National Trust.
