Possibly the oldest building in this now disused and derelict complex.text/html2009-01-24T21:45:25+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/31308Tom Jeffs53.499868 -2.381362SD7400 : Worsley Packet House

A milestone along the A57 Liverpool Road, through Eccles. This is at the junction with Worsley Road, and would appear to belong to the Barton Bridge and Moses Gate trust. Note the old spelling of 'Altringham' - latterly, 'Altrincham'.text/html2008-12-27T19:55:03+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/31308Tom Jeffs53.401807 -2.456889SJ6989 : St Werburgh old church, Warburton

This is a milestone on the main road between Warrington and Irlam, formerly a Turnpike between Liverpool and Manchester. The distance to Warrington is on the opposite side, however the road is 50mph and I didn't feel comfortable taking a similar shot from the opposite direction. The other side isn't painted, which makes the text barely legible. The date of this is possibly around 1810.text/html2008-12-03T19:18:28+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/31308Tom Jeffs53.430744 -2.409037SJ7292 : St George's Church, Carrington

A Grade II* listed building, the church is no longer used for worship.text/html2008-11-15T22:01:58+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/31308Tom Jeffs53.565553 -2.292871SD8007 : Weir at Blackford Bridge

Just beyond the weir on the Roch here, is Blackford New Bridge. The old bridge is just behind the photographer. A goit or channel appears to branch from this weir, just to the right of the image (not visible on the image).text/html2008-11-15T21:57:35+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/31308Tom Jeffs53.564741 -2.293923SD8007 : River Roch looking towards old bridge

The River Roch flows west (past the photographer and over his shoulder) into the Irwell. The original river crossing is visible on the horizon.text/html2008-11-13T21:27:55+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/31308Tom Jeffs53.563929 -2.295276SD8007 : Blackford Old Bridge

This is the original bridge that carried the Manchester to Bury road across the River Roch. It was replaced by Blackford New Bridge, and is now in this sad dilapidated condition. To get here I walked from the south side of the new bridge, and tramped through the woods before jumping down onto a sandbank.
