View of Baker's Arch, High Street, Hindon. There is a date stone under the window over the arch. The lane through the arch leads to a collection of houses known as Says Cottages.text/html2010-02-12T12:54:39+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/44674Hindonite51.094259 -2.127753ST9132 : Old Methodist Chapel, Hindon

This is the old Methodist Chapel on the northeast side of the High Street, Hindon, below the B3089. For many years the lower part of the chapel was a shop selling nick-nacks from Thailand. It was converted into a family home about three years ago. The base of the windows on either side of the door have recently been lowered, and the owners did a beautiful job in matching the stone and glazing to the originals: you can only tell the work has been done if you look carefully.text/html2010-02-12T12:49:33+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/44674Hindonite51.094258 -2.128895ST9132 : Shell Cottage and Demelza Cottage, High Street, Hindon

Shell Cottage and Demelza Cottage, High Street, Hindon, on the southwestern side of the High Street, below the B3089. Shell Cottage is nearer to the camera. Local legend has it that the carved shell architectural detail between the two cottages in the upper part of the wall came from the collapsed ruins of Fonthill Abbey nearby.text/html2010-02-12T12:45:35+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/44674Hindonite51.094258 -2.128895ST9132 : High Steps, High Street, Hindon

View up Hindon High Street to the church, with The Angel Inn (formerly and for along time The Grosvenor Arms) on the left, on the far side of the B3089. The awning of the new Hindon Village Shop, a community shop that opened in 2009, can be seen just beyond the telephone box.text/html2010-02-12T12:35:07+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/44674Hindonite51.093451 -2.126608ST9132 : View down the High Street, Hindon

Facade of the Lamb Inn facing on to the High Street, Hindon. The wonderful wisteria has a massive tree-like trunk and must be very old. Pruned properly, it flowers beautifully.text/html2010-02-12T12:29:33+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/44674Hindonite51.094977 -2.128897ST9132 : Door at the Lamb Inn, Hindon

Beautifully carved wooden door architrave at the Lamb Inn, Hindon. The Lamb is a Grade II listed building (as are most of the houses on the High Street): I hope the pub owners are looking after this wonderful architectural detail as it doesn't look like it has much in the way of preservative or protection on it, and it won't take too much more bad weather for it to start rotting. The green gloss paint that protected it was removed about eight years ago.
