St Martin's church, Stubton
Grade II* listed.
The original church in Stubton was opposite Stubton Hall, however this more modern church, built in 1799, was built on a new site commonly known as Bemrose's Croft. The church is built in Gothic revival style in ashlar and blue lias, with slate roofs.
The present church consists of a chancel, nave, pinnacled tower and vestry. The chancel was added in 1869. It has a wagon roof and piscina in the north wall.
All windows are in the Decorated style and depict The Good Shepherd, St Catherine of Sienna, Madonna and Child; The Light of The World, The Crucifixion, the two Mary's and St John and also Faith, Hope and Charity.
Pews, font and pulpit are all 19th C.
The organ, built by Cousans Sons & Co of Lincoln, was presented in 1920 by the Squire, Lieutenant-Colonel Edmund Royds, D.L., O.B.E., of Stubton Hall, and the existing gallery was built to contain it.
