Glasgow School of Art extension :: Shared Description

Opened in 2014. Built by Sir Robert McAlpine, designed by renowned American architect Steven Holl ( LinkExternal link ), the building is in sharp contrast to the original Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed school building on the opposite side of Renfrew Street.

The south west corner of the new building straddles an older building which has been integrated into the design of the new one. This was originally the Art School's assembly hall and is Category C Listed LinkExternal link .
