Sir Walter Scott and Waverley :: Shared Description

Waverley station in Edinburgh is the only station in the world named after a book! To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the publication of Scott's novel Waverley, and the 20th anniversary of Edinburgh's designation as a UNESCO City of Literature, the station is hosting an 'exhibition' of quotations from the works of Sir Walter Scott, in the form of glass panels and inscriptions on the floor of the concourse. Scott was born in Edinburgh in 1771 NT2573 : Birth place of Sir Walter Scott, spent much of his childhood in the Borders near Smailholm NT6434, and did much of his work at Abbotsford NT5034, where he died in 1832.
