Rabbitneuk Quarries :: Shared Description

These sandstone quarries are marked on the first-edition OS map (surveyed in 1858), but they had fallen into disuse by 1914. They took their name from Rabbitneuk, a house that was at NS48116082; the building was shown on maps from 1858 up to at least 1940, but it has been gone for several decades.
