St Peter's church, Hereford

Grade II*listed

The church dates from the late 13th and early 14th century.
It has a nave with north and south aisles, chancel with south chapel (Lady Chapel) and tower with spire.
The spire contains a 14th century bell which is thought to have been used to give warning of danger to the citizens of Hereford.
A carved Norman stone was discovered in 2011 and gives evidence of a Norman church begun around 1070 by Walter de Lacy.
The chancel has 15th century choir stalls, probably taken from St Guthlac's Priory. There is also work by Grinling Gibbons.
The church was restored in 1727 and galleries were installed for extra seating. It was restored again circa 1885 by Nicholson. The font dates from this time.

The stained glass windows are Victorian, and the organ dates from 1920.

In 2011 it was decided to re-fit the church with a new oak floor with underfloor heating, children's area, a welcome desk, kitchen area and improved lighting.
