Old cornstone workings

Cornstone (a kind of limestone) was quarried from various locations on Carman Muir, to be burned for lime, but the industry was centred on this particular knoll: a ruined lime-kiln can be seen on its northern side, and there are extensive spoil mounds and signs of quarrying nearby. See LinkExternal link for an annotated satellite view centred on this area. See Link for details of former quarrying on Carman Muir as a whole.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
