Bowling L & D Railway Station :: Shared Description

The Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway was one of two railway lines which ran through Bowling, the other being the almost parallel former North British Railway line which is around 100 metres south and which is still in passenger use today.

The L & D line opened in October 1896 and closed in 1960. Remains of the platforms can be seen at track level, with more substantial station building remains surviving underneath, fronting onto Scott Avenue.
