Arches Leisure Centre, East Greenwich

The municipal swimming baths were built in 1928, with two pools, originally called First and Second class (later named "fitness and leisure pools" respectively). It was an old-fashioned design with individual cubicles along the pool-side. [source: local blogger LinkExternal link ]

The pools and other fitness facilities on the site were transferred in the last few years of operation to a private operator (Better Leisure), and closed in June 2015 when the new Greenwich Centre opened a few hundred metres to the east TQ3978 : Entrance to the Greenwich Centre.

The site straddles a grid boundary so photos can be found under both TQ3877 and TQ3977.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
