East Witterning - Church of the Assumption of St Mary the Virgin
The Church of the Assumption of St Mary the Virgin is to be found some distance away from the modern village of East Wittering at the end of Church Farm Lane adjacent to an industrial estate, but in a quiet rural setting despite this. This little church dating back to Norman times was declared redundant in 1983, its services moving to St Anne's, a 1950s church nearer the village.
The interior of this old church is inaccessible and fencing surrounds part of it. Dating originally from the early C12th, it has a notable Norman doorway on its southern side and is EH Grade II* listed Link
