Church of the Holy Innocents, Fallowfield :: Shared Description

Designed by Price and Linklater, this was built 1870-2 on land donated by Lord Egerton. The spire was added in 1880, and the glass between then and the 1890s.

The original foundation was a church and a school, but the school was sold in the 1980s and is now a bar and restaurant.

Both church and school were built in sandstone, of two colours, in the Gothic style

In 198384 the interior of the church was altered to designs by the Ellis Williams Partnership, after the parish was merged with neighbouring Birch and the closure of their Church of St James. The Fallowfield church has not taken a dual dedication, but houses the worshippers of both former parishes.

The church is grade II listed (LinkExternal link )
The school is also grade II listed (LinkExternal link )

The congregation have their own web site at LinkExternal link which is far to busy with important matters to mention the history of the building. There is a lot of historical informat at LinkExternal link
