Torksey Viaduct

Built 1847-49 to a design by John Fowler, the viaduct carried the Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, Chesterfield - Lincoln line across the River Trent. The 20-span, 570ft eastern approach viaduct and two 130ft box girder spans across the Trent carried trains until the line closed in 1959, but the grade II* listed viaduct remains.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
