Litcham common
Litcham common is a 28.33 hectare heathland common just south of the village of Litcham in Breckland district, Norfolk. It is registered as CL.367 and has no rights registered. The common is owned by the Lexham Hall Estate, and was declared a local nature reserve in 1984.
Grazing has been reintroduced to the common to promote a restoration of traditional heathland habitat, and to halt the spread of woodland and scrub. The initiative to graze the common is unusual, in that virtually the entire common is grazed, and Dunham Road, which crosses the common, is cattle gridded, rather than fenced off. The common is now grazed by ponies and cattle.
