Comiston Farmhouse :: Shared Description

To be developed. The farmhouse, officially 83 Pentland View, has been sold by the City of Edinburgh Council, subject to planning permission. Information is that the preferred developer wishes to place 4 x four or five storey blocks on the site 37 flats with parking spaces. There seems to be little history available it is present on the OS six-inch map 1843-82 series, but not on a 1752-55 map series by Roy. Its last use was as a residential child support centre. It is a well-proportioned classical villa constructed in stone and of architectural merit and considered worthy of retention. There is a lot of local interest in preventing its demolition, and a planning application is expected to be submitted by the end of April if there are objections more information may become available.
