Comiston Farmhouse

To be developed. The farmhouse, officially 83 Pentland View, has been sold by the City of Edinburgh Council, subject to planning permission. Information is that the preferred developer wishes to place 4 x four or five storey blocks on the site – 37 flats with parking spaces. There seems to be little history available – it is present on the OS six-inch map 1843-82 series, but not on a 1752-55 map series by Roy. Its last use was as a residential child support centre. It is a well-proportioned classical villa constructed in stone and of architectural merit and considered worthy of retention. There is a lot of local interest in preventing its demolition, and a planning application is expected to be submitted by the end of April – if there are objections more information may become available.
Update, 3 June 2021: proposals for a cohousing community living project.
Update, 2 June 2023: planning approval has been given for 6 houses and conversion of the farmhouse into 3 flats LinkExternal link

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
