Zip Wire at Bethesda

There are two zip-wires run by Zip World at the Penrhyn slate quarry - the 800m shorter wire being a practice "flight" before taking on the 1600m (1 mile) wire which flies over the lake. As they say on their website LinkExternal link it is the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe. The "flight" only takes about a minute - or in the fastest ever recorded here, about half that. Participants often exceed 100mph as they descend from the man-made hill across the lake to the landing stage. Lighter people carry ballast, while heavier ones have an air-brake attached to prevent them going *too* fast!

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
