Dunfermline Town Railway Station
The station was opened by the Dunfermline and Queensferry Railway on 1 November 1877. Originally named "Dunfermline Comely Park", it was renamed "Dunfermline Lower" following a major rebuild which was completed in 1890 (at that time there was a Dunfermline Upper station on a different line).
When Dunfermline Upper closed in 1968, Dunfermline Lower was renamed to plain "Dunfermline". The next renaming took place in 2000 when Dunfermline Queen Margaret station was opened and Dunfermline was changed to the current (June 2016) "Dunfermline Town".
The main station building is on the northbound platform (Platform 2). This platform houses the ticket office, toilet and a cafe within the waiting room. There is also a brick-built waiting room on the south bound Platform 1.
The two platforms are connected by a ramped subway, which also leads to Woodmill Street on the south side of the station.
There are car parks at each side of the station, with cycle lockers located in the north car park near Platform 2. There is also a cycle rack on each platform.
