Meanwood Valley Urban Farm
This city farm in north Leeds was established in 1980. It shares the same objectives as many other conservation organisations such as introducing city dwellers to farm animals and countryside practices, planting indigenous trees and flowers and encouraging a sustainable lifestyle. Its predecessor, the Model Farm, was higher up the hillside to the north but sold most of its land for housing in the early 20th century. What remains of the Model Farm is now a horse riding centre.
