Mobile Crane Accident, A712 'The Queen's Way', December 2016 :: Shared Description
A Grove GMK 5130-2 'maxi taxi' all-terrain crane (five axle, max load 130t/60m boom) left the A712 between Newton Stewart and New Galloway in early December - the area of the accident is known as 'The Queen's Way' and is east of Clatteringshaws visitor centre. Recovery was proving difficult due to the weight of the vehicle and the boggy roadside conditions into which the crane had sank. By the time these photographs were taken, there had been two unsuccessful attempts to remove the vehicle.
The crane was finally removed on 16 January 2017 - see Link
