Bramley (Yorkshire) railway station :: Shared Description
Bramley in West Yorkshire had a station on the line from Leeds to Bradford Exchange from 1 August 1854 to 3 July 1966. There were extensive sidings around the station, which was situated west of Swinnow Road and had four through lines. No trace of the station buildings or platforms now remains, although the three bridges that carried the lines over Swinnow Road are still in place.
A simpler unstaffed halt was opened by West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive on 12 September 1983. It has staggered platforms, the down or eastbound platform 2 being roughly in the original location, and the up or westbound platform 1 being the other side of Swinnow Road and reached by a long and fairly steep path. The station now only has two tracks, which cross Swinnow Road on the northernmost of the original three bridges.
Bramley is served by stopping trains between Leeds and Manchester Victoria and Huddersfield. Preston/Blackpool services do not stop here.
The title of this shared description recognises that there is also a Bramley station in Hampshire.
