Eclipse Brickworks near Horeb

The brickworks is adjacent to an abandoned railway line that has now become Swiss Valley Cycle Trail, a part of National Cycle Route 47. According to its entry as a listed building it was built in 1907 and has over time been called the Blackthorn/Star/Eclipse/Horeb Brickworks. It contains a rare surviving example of a Hoffmann kiln. This is a design where the fire position cycles around the kiln firing one of the many chambers while gently pre-heating those ahead of it and slowly cooling those behind it,
The site is now overgrown but the enormous chimney stack and the kiln itself are still prominent.
Both are individual listed buildings but the entire site is also scheduled. LinkExternal link
