Bridleway 26 Guildford

Bridleway 26 Guildford leads from East Shalford Lane at Manor Farm, through Manor Farm, and then east to Halfpenny Lane at Chilworth. The bridleway was, in part, formerly footpath 26 Guildford, but was upgraded to bridleway in 2012 (LinkExternal link following two consecutive applications for definitive map modification orders based on long use, and a House of Lords case which implied that the original decision was legally flawed.

The track, as it passes through the spur between Manor Farm and Little Halfpenny Farm, is deeply incised, suggesting that it is at least mediaeval in origin.

East of Little Halfpenny Farm, the bridleway (now bridleway 610 Guildford) follows the north side of the stepped field boundary, whereas the footpath (footpath 26 Guildford) continues to follow the south side.
