Eaton Park in Norwich :: Shared Description

Eaton Park is open every day all year round. Eighty acres of fields and market gardens were purchased at the start of the 20th century by the Norwich Corporation (now the City Council) with the aim of creating a sports park. For more than three years over 100 men were employed to construct the bandstand > Link and the surrounding pavilions > Link , the model boat > Link as well as the lily > Link ponds. The park, which also has a miniature railway > Link was officially opened to the public in 1928 by the then Prince of Wales. In 1998, the park was one of three to benefit from a Heritage Lottery grant, and today Eaton Park is one of 23 parks in Norwich, all managed by the City Councilís Parks and Open Spaces team. Eaton Park is included in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade II.
