St Ann's Church, Manchester

The Church of St Ann, which stands at the head of St Ann’s Square is a Grade I listed building (Historic England List entry Number: 1247612 LinkExternal link ). The church was built as part of early eighteenth century development of the large cornfield named Acres Field which is now St Ann’s Square. Acres Field had been the site of an annual fair which was held from the 13th century until 1823 when it was moved to Knott Mill. An impressive, neo-classical building consecrated in 1712, St Ann’s is the second oldest church in Manchester. John Wesley preached here in 1733 and 1738.
