The Long Crags :: Shared Description

The Long Crags, sometimes called the Lang Craigs, are the western escarpment of the Kilpatrick Hills. The lava (Clyde Plateau Volcanic Formation) from which they are made originated in widespread volcanic activity about 350 million years ago, in the Carboniferous Period. The escarpment is shown as "Long Craig" in Roy's Military Survey of Scotland (1740só50s). It gives its name to nearby Lang Craigs Woodland (c.2011): LinkExternal link
