Victoria Bridge, Dunoon :: Shared Description

The original ornate iron bridge with castellated stone towers over the Balgaidh Burn. Superseded at some point by a more modern bridge a few metres downstream, it is no longer in use for road traffic.

The surviving bridge maker's place shows that it was constructed by Somervail & CO, Bridge & Roof Works of Dalmuir.

It has the appearance of a railway bridge, but was never used as such, there being no railways past or present in Dunoon.
