Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, River Tyne

The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge carries the Tyne and Wear Metro over the River Tyne between Newcastle and Gateshead. It was purpose built for the Metro, designed by W. A. Fairhurst & Partners. It was officially opened 6 November 1981 and in use by Metro services on 15 November 1981.
