Shared description
Beckett Park, Leeds
Briefly, the park in north-west Leeds is the remnants of a monastic grange farm (some of the ridge-and-furrow fields of which survive within it), which eventually passed in 1832 to William Beckett MP. His descendant Ernest Beckett sold the estate in 1908, and it became partly a public park, technically owned by charity trustees and leased to the City Council, and partly a college campus (now part of Leeds Beckett University).
