Wylie Park, Renton :: Shared Description

A recreation ground at the southern end of Renton, named after a local industrialist (NS3878 : Burial plot beside Renton Trinity Church); see "Wylie Park" at LinkExternal link (Vale of Leven website). It is used by Renton Craigandro FC. It is now also often called Tontine Park, properly a different park on the other side of the main road; Tontine Park proper is now gone, its name given to housing later built there; see "Tontine Park" at LinkExternal link (Vale of Leven website). The 1897 map revision LinkExternal link shows both parks near the top-right corner: Tontine Park is the "Football Ground" near "Dalquhurn Dye Works", and Wylie Park is to its east, marked "Recreation Ground".
