Cross Flatts Park, Beeston, Leeds
Cross Flatts is a linear park stretching a kilometre from Dewsbury Road to Beeston Road, and together with Holbeck Cemetery, Holbeck Park and Holbeck Moor forms a green corridor towards the city centre. It opened in 1891, with area of 44 acres, the land being sold to Leeds Corporation for the purpose. It was named after the manor house, demolished in the 1970s. It acquired pagodas, promenades, a bandstand, ornamental fountains and an aviary, not all of which are still present. Present facilities include childrens play areas, bowling greens, tennis and basketball courts, sensory garden, a cafe and toilets.
