Micklefield House and Park, Rawdon :: Shared Description

Micklefield House was originally built in 1616, rebuilt in 1662. The present house on the site was designed by John Tertius Fairbank and built for William White in 1847, extended 1872. It was in private ownership of various families until it was purchased in 1930 for use as council offices by Rawdon UDC, later Aireborough UDC from 1937 and Leeds City Council from 1974. The Council moved out in 2018, and as of 2020 the house was vacant and boarded up with a view to being sold for conversion to apartments. Listed Grade II (List entry 1424014).

The grounds are a public park including a free car park, football and rugby pitches, tennis courts, bowling green, rose garden and several playgrounds. There is also a library building within the grounds reflecting its previous public ownership, but this is now run independently.
