Common Shrew - Sorex araneus

A half-eaten, dead [!], animal on my lawn. My wife had seen a cat occupied with something earlier in the day, and she later found this. Bluebottle flies were already showing an interest, and the next day the corpse was heaving with fly larvae. Shrews are wide spread, but not often seen. They feed on invertebrates. Apparently cats love to chase and hunt them, but do not like their taste or smell, so rarely eat them. For closer views see the others in the Shared Description.
