The Presentation of New Colours

The Parachute Regiment,
Merville Barracks
Colchester

Prince Charles has presented the Parachute Regiment with new Colours in a 'once-in-a-generation' ceremony.

The socially distanced event marked the first time the regiment had received new Colours since 1998 and 50 years since Prince Charles did his first parachute jump, landing upside down with legs in the rigging lines, into Studland Bay, to be rescued by the Royal Marines.

Handmade from precious silks, silver and gilt threads, the colours are used on the regiment's most important occasions,
and bear the battle honours and symbols of the battalions.
