Bramley Fall
An area of 39 hectares on the northern edge of Bramley, Leeds, bordered to the north by the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, on the east by housing, on the south by Leeds and Bradford Road, and on the west by housing and Pollard Lane.
Most of the area was used in the 19th and early 20th centuries for quarrying building stone, indeed 'Bramley Fall stone' was used for many of the grand buildings of West Yorkshire and beyond. The location on the hillside above the canal made it convenient to ship stone out of the quarries. At the north-west corner was Newlay Hall (now demolished).
It is now a largely wooded area of parkland maintained by Leeds City Council and includes a 2km horse riding circuit and a fitness trail, as well as two picnic areas, children's playground, sports pitches and woodland walks.
