Shortridge Hall, Warkworth

A privately owned country house near Warkworth, built in 1898 by W L Newcombe for Robert Deuchar, a Newcastle brewery owner. The property is well named as it does indeed sit at the top of a short ridge just east of the main Newcastle-Edinburgh railway line. The main hall is listed grade II (list entry 1303334). After a period as an old people's home, it is now back in private residential hands.

Note: The house and grounds are not usually open to the public, but the photos in this collection taken on 23 July 2022 were on the occasion of a one-day Open Gardens event. The photographer has the written permission of the property owner to release these photos under Creative Commons licence.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.
