Church of St Matthew, Northowram

The parish church was built in 1911-13, architects Walsh and Nicholas of Halifax, and occupies part of the site of a former quarry. The bell tower or campanile is almost detached from the main body of the church. Before it was built, the village came under the Coley parish of the Church of England (although it had more than one other Christian place of worship) and the two villages still (or once again) share a priest today. It is listed grade II and the list entry (ref. 1133912) gives a detailed description.
