Bradford City Hall

The grade I listed Town Hall was first built in 1870-73 to the designs of Lockwood & Mawson, inspired by the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. It was extended to the south 1905-09 by Shaw and Edwards, with internal alterations to the original building in 1914. Although Bradford became a city in 1897, it is only since 1965 that the building has been called City Hall. It remains the headquarters of the Metropolitan Borough Council and the Lord Mayor. The ceremonial rooms and grand staircase have featured in several movies and TV episodes.
