Rehoboth Burial Ground, Farsley, Leeds

The burial ground was opened c.1832 when the churchyard of the nearby Baptist church became full. Until the early 20th century it remained specifically a Baptist burial ground but in later decades was used more generally as an unconsecrated cemetery for people of no particular faith. The last burial was in 2000 but even before that, most of the site had become neglected and largely overgrown. After it was sold to a private owner in 2003, the public had no right of access, despite it containing Commonwealth War Graves.

In 2019 it was bought by a group of local people who set up a Friends group to raise funds, clear excess vegetation, improve access, restore at least some of the memorials and record all known burials (c.4000) for posterity. Work is still in progress as of 2023. A small area of the burial ground was never used for coffin burials and is now being used for interment of cremated remains.
