The Alexandra Hotel, Hessle Road, Hull

There was a pub (the Hessle Road Inn) on this site from 1855 or earlier. The present building extends further to the north and was built in 1895 by the Hull Brewery, to designs by Smith, Brodrick and Walker*, in brick, faience and terracotta. After a period of closure, it was reopened in October 2019 by the Parrot brewery. Grade II listed (list entry 1197742) and on CAMRA's regional list for its almost unchanged bar area, windows and the ceiling in the rear lounge.

[* according to Historic England; CAMRA gives the firm's name as Smith, Brodrick and Lowther].

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
