The brainchild of Henrietta Barnett Link
Hampstead Garden Suburb was envisaged as a model community with people of all classes living together in beautiful houses set in a verdant landscape. However, it quickly developed into an upper middle-class residential area.
It was laid out by Raymond Unwin Link and Edwin Lutyens Link Nikolaus Pevsner Link described it as "the most nearly perfect example of that English invention and speciality, the garden suburb".
