Cathkin Park, one of the three Hampden Park sites
It was opened by Queens Park FC in 1884 when their original Hampden Park was displaced by expansion of the railway from Glasgow to Cathcart. The capacity peaked at 50,000 but the highest recorded attendance was 51,518.
Queens Park vacated the ground when they opened the current Hampden Park in 1903. Third Lanark FC took over the lease at that time and renamed it "New cathkin park", having moved there from the original Cathkin Park which was located 450 metres to the north at what is now Dixon Road. Third Lanark remained there until they went out of business in 1967.
Since then the grandstands have been removed but the terracing remains, although it is well overgrown now. Football is stall played there by Third Lanark AFC which was founded in 2008.
