Alexandra Dock, Kingston upon Hull
Alexandra Dock was built by the Hull Barnsley & West Riding Junction Railway and Dock Company. The dock opened on 16 July 1885 and named after Alexandra, Princess of Wales. The dock closed on 30 September 1982, at which time the connection to the rail network was removed. In 1991, the dock re-opened but without a rail connection. In 2011, Siemens Gamesa and Associated British Ports signed a memorandum of understanding concerning the construction of a wind energy machine manufacturing plant at Alexandra Dock. The factory was formally inaugurated on 1 December 2016.
